On May, 27 Calvert High Schools National Honors Society inducted new students into the Society.
The National Honors Society is a prestigious high school organization in the United States recognizing students for exceptional academic, service, and character achievements. NHS is one of the most widely recognized student organizations across American high schools.
The CHS NHS is prominent and helpful in our community. This year NHS students have helped set up school dances, taken part in local elementary school field days, and helped with Calvert County Public Schools inclusive track and field day, along with many other events.
Mr. Michael Zick and Ms. Alexandria Miller are the NHS sponsors at CHS and help to oversee and connect NHS students with community service opportunities.
If given the opportunity to apply, rising sophomores and juniors should highly consider joining NHS. NHS is a phenomenal opportunity for CHS students to be a part of something larger than CHS and give back to their communities before they move on to college or a career.
For a student to ensure they are eligible for NHS, they should focus on keeping their grades up, apply themselves to extracurriculars, and take part in leadership opportunities.
Not only does NHS provide students with a way to give back to their communities but it is also a stellar program to add to college applications.
