Seniors, the clock is ticking, and our final year of high school is shortly coming to an end. It is a bittersweet feeling, closing our laptops for the last time, signing each other’s yearbooks and feeling excited to wear our college shirts to school. Although this chapter is ending, there are still some final senior festivities to look forward to.
On May 15, our final day of high school, we have senior sunset from 6-8 p.m. on the football field. This is not only a goodbye to each other and our fellow peers, but also our school. There will be food and drinks, as well as games. Bring a blanket to sit on and enjoy the beautiful sunset with classmates.
The next night we will celebrate our senior prom. The theme is House of Cards: Royal Flush and will be hosted at Annmarie Gardens. The junior prom prince and princess will be revealed as well as the senior prom king and queen. There will be fun games, lots of photos to take, and groovy music. Prom will be from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Grab some dinner with friends, take some gorgeous pictures, and then head to Annmarie on May 16.
Between prom and graduation are the elementary school graduation walks. Seniors have the opportunity to put on their cap and gown and walk through their childhood elementary school. This is an emotional day as it shows how far along we have come and grown. All the walks are between June 1 and June 2; the times vary and are sent through emails from Ms. Young.
June 4 will come before we know it. The day all seniors have been waiting for, graduation. This year, Calvert has a late graduation at 7 p.m. hosted at the Equestrian Center. We will be celebrating our class of 2026 seniors. There will be music played by our CHS band and speakers from the board of education, the CHS principal, and some fellow classmates. Following the music and speakers will be the handing out of diplomas, the moment everyone has been awaiting.
Right after graduation is Project Grad. This is a lively post-graduation event to celebrate all seniors and their accomplishments. This event will be at Dave and Busters, and it is from June 4 to June 5. The bus leaves at 10 p.m. and it ends around 4 a.m. This is not an event to miss, there will be free food, games, and music. Project Grad is a great way to say goodbye to your classmates and jump into summer.
These events are meant to make the end of senior year full of fun and also bittersweet. As we are about to begin a new chapter, it is important to live in the moment and soak up every bit of these final senior events. Each of these events will be full of entertainment, celebration, and unity as a class.
