If you are looking for the most delicious chocolate dessert this holiday season you have found the right recipe. This recipe has always been one of my favorites and they are hard not to make year-round.
I received this recipe from my grandma who got it from a family friend when my dad was younger. This recipe is not only a childhood tradition of mine but a dessert that has been enjoyed for years.
Once you make this recipe, be warned that whoever you make it for will be begging you to make it again.
Ingredients:
6 Cups Oro Cookies (finely crushed) – 5 sleeves
6oz. (2-3oz. packages) Cream Cheese – softened
1 stick butter
1 Cups Confectioners Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Bag of Chocolate Chips
Paraffin
In a large bowl, combine your cream cheese, butter, confectioner’s sugar, and vanilla. Add your crushed cookies and mix thoroughly.
Roll the mixture into spheres. Place each sphere on a wax paper-covered cookie sheet. When all of the mixture is rolled out, place the spheres in the freezer.
Once the spheres are frozen, melt 1 bag chocolate chips and ½ bar of paraffin (gulf wax- Safeway carries it) in a double boiler or saucepan over medium heat (be sure not to let any water into the chocolate as it will harden).
Dip each frozen sphere into chocolate mixture to cover and place on an aluminum foil covered cookie sheet.
Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens. Keep refrigerated until ready to eat.
