Angel Kontra, Editor

CHS’s Mock Trial team received the news that they will be advancing into regional competition. The team is set to compete against St. Mary’s Ryken at the Upper Marlboro Circuit Court on Wednesday Feb 25.

Sponsors Ms. Margaret Land and Mrs. Dawn Lister will accompany the team’s defense in their third presentation of the 2018-29 case: Maryland v Biff Tannen.

Seniors Dominic Fiore, Clare Thompson, and Angel Kontra will compete as the team’s attorneys and seniors Gabrielle Bubin, McKenzie Eller, and junior Emily Shrieves will compete as the team’s witnesses.

In previous competitions the defense has performed well. The first time the defense presented its case, they lost by a “tie-breaker” point against Lenardtown, 49-50. The second time the defense presented, they were victorious against St. Mary’s Ryken scoring 56-53.

The team will spend this week preparing and then travel together to their toughest competition yet.

Fellow Cavaliers are welcome to watch the team compete. Be sure to congratulate the team on their advancement, wish the defense members luck, and listen up for future updates!
