The Mock Trial team attended their fourth competition against West Lake High School on Feb 13 at the Port Tobacco Historical Courthouse. 

Accompanied by Mrs. Katie Kotowski and Mrs. Margaret Land, the team was again successful in their presentation of the 2018 Mock Trial case: Slater v Kapowski 

Juniors Dominic Fiore and Clare Thompson, and sophomore Gracie Bradford competed as attorneys for the defense. Similarly, juniors McKenzie Eller, Ashley Smith, and Angel Kontra competed as witnesses for the defense. Through strong collaborative efforts, the defense attorneys and witness kept the plaintiff on their feet. 

The presiding judge, Mr. Howell, ruled in favor of both the plaintiff’s claim and the defense’s counterclaim. Additionally, Calvert was declared the winner in competition with final scores 53-51. Team members Fiore and Kontra received all-star recognition as well.  

With this win, Calvert finishes undefeated in their circuit, and qualifies for advancement into regional competition. Be sure to listen up for future competition and congratulate these Cavaliers on their great season.
