If anyone’s been paying attention while driving through Prince Frederick, they would see the huge construction site on the corner of Dares Beach Road and Rt. 4 North. Right off Amory Road, at the site of the old Calvert Middle School, there’s a new development that has been in the works for a while.
The site is supposed to host many new establishments, such as an ALDI’s grocery store and a new location for Sneade’s Ace Hardware. There will also be a Dash-In! located on the north end with eight gas pumps. Other sites have not yet been disclosed but have been allocated into certain square footage.
There will be a 23,400 square foot anchor store, which will eventually be a Michaels, with retail shops in three separate buildings around it, totaling a square footage of 21,000. There are also reports of a new medical building going up and an unknown two-story building on the site is also in the plans. The site will also sport 408 parking spaces.
Across the road where the old Amory in Calvert County used to be, there’s reports of a farmer’s market being built. Its amenities will include a pavilion, with a kitchen, bathrooms, and outdoor seating to top it all off. The county is hoping for an extra outlet for local farmers and retailers to sell to consumers and having it in the epicenter of Calvert hosts a new customer base lost with market’s father out from the highway.
