In the middle of Prince Frederick sits one of the four branches of Calvert County’s public library system, and it hosts a plethora of amenities of which anyone in the community to take advantage. Whether someone’s a high school junior catching up on work, a local business owner looking to use the copier room, or a patron simply looking for a good book to read, chances are that the Prince Frederick Calvert Library has just what you need.
Open 9am-8pm throughout most of the week, the library has different hours for Fridays and Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. Under its roof, the library has many amenities available to the public. To name a few, the copier center is on the left side of the entrance, behind the help desks right as you walk in. With printers, a copier going for $0.20 cents for every page, and a fax machine going for $1.00, this room is perfect for any small business or student project just getting started.
The library also has free Wi-fi and desktop computers free of charge to use on the first floor. With seating options ranging from long wooden tables to cushioned chairs with side tables, electrical outlets are also peppered across the entire library for use. With the open seating area also comes the more secluded areas such as the quiet conference rooms, which one can reserve in person or online on the library’s website. In addition, the quiet study room is located on the second floor of the library, partitioned away from the noise and bustle of the children’s center across the floor.
The children’s corner, located on the second floor, is host to many events to get children participating in and excited about reading. Whether one has children of their own, a niece or nephew, or a younger sibling, the children’s corner is a colorful world of its own inside the library to let them explore.
The Prince Frederick Branch of the Calvet Library is not only a wonderful resource for different types of media, such as paper books, audio books, or movies, but it’s a great place to hunker down for a while and get to work in a different environment. Located in the heart of Prince Frederick, it is a great spot to study with friends before or after grabbing a bite to eat.
