Friday night, September 6th, Calvert High’s varsity football team played St. Charles High School at home, proving to be an exciting time for all those who attended. After a successful season last fall, the varsity team proved to have adapted its loss of graduated seniors and pulled through with a win for the school.
After a rocky first half for Calvert with St. Charles winning 9 – nil, the Cav’s managed to turn the game on its head and win with a staggering 29-point comeback in the last 25 minutes of the game, even while dealing with multiple injuries back-to-back on the field.
The student section, run by the class of 2025, held the hype throughout the game even with the shaky start to the game. The senior class’s last first game was a night to remember, with the Hawaiian theme starkly showing amongst a great portion of the student body who attended.
Unfortunately, Friday’s game was slightly marred by some unsavory characters who caused a commotion near the front gate and concession stand. However, even through the confusion off the field, the Cav’s were able to stay focused on the field and snatched the win from St. Charles High School.
Friday, September 13th, Calvert plays at home against Westlake High School for what is sure to be an incredible game. The student section theme will be USA, so make sure to purchase your tickets on the CHS athletics website and come dressed in your best red, white and blue!
