The Los Angeles Rams will take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53 on Sunday February 3rd, 2019.   My prediction will be unpopular because I’m predicting that the Los Angeles Rams to win the game 31-28.

In order to understand my prediction, we may have recap how both teams got to this point. Led by a powerful offense which ranked second in the league in total offense, the Rams posted a 13-3 and got the number two seed in the NFC playoffs.  The Rams earned a first round bye and they played the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round in the playoffs.

What makes the Rams so dangerous is that they can beat teams in multiple ways. Led by running back CJ Anderson, the Rams running game was unstoppable as Anderson piled up 132 yards and two touchdowns in the divisional round against the Cowboys. Also, Rams started running back Todd Gurley punished the Cowboys for 116 yards and a touchdown in the Rams 30-22 victory over the Cowboys.  Next up for the Rams was the NFC championship game against the New Orleans Saints. Although the Saints held a 13-0 a lead at halftime, the Rams battled back and forced overtime and won 26-23.

On the other hand, The Patriots finished with an 11-5 record in the regular season, but they earned a first round bye in the playoffs. In the divisional round rookie running back Sonny Michael three touchdown performance, the Patriots rolled past the L.A Chargers and into their eighth consecutive AFC championship game. Next up, The Patriots won a trip to the Super Bowl as they won in overtime on the road vs the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now as for the Super Bowl, it will be a close game. Even though the Patriots are more experienced, I think the mental toughness that the Rams showed all season will prevail against the Patriots.  look for a high scoring game as quarterbacks Jared Goff and Tom Brady go head to head. The Rams must score enough to keep up, however more importantly the Rams must play mistake free football in order to win this game because the Patriots are a very disciplined team. The Rams defense vs the Patriots offensive line will be a good match up to watch on Sunday. The good matchups to watch will be cornerback Stephen Gilmore versus wide receiver Stephen Gilmore vs Brandan Cooks will be a good matchup to watch as the Patriots best cornerback will be matched up with the Rams best receiver. I predict that whoever has the ball last will win the game, and I think that team will be the Rams.
