As the latter half of the decade hurdles upon the world, so do many time-and-true new year’s resolutions. It’s no shocker that the usual ones remain; physical fitness, eating better, going to the gym more often. However, this year seems to be trending a bit differently than those of previous ones.
More than ever, young adults especially seem to have the resolution of saving money by going out less, eating in and losing subscriptions. With the cost of living rising nearly every day, it is no shocker that this seems to be a massive resolution for the generations most affected by it.
Another resolution for 2025 is focusing on mental health. There is no doubt that physical health can affect mental health, but it seems that with mental health awareness making its return adults are more likely to focus on mental well-being than cutting calories. By focusing more on self-improvement, cultivating stronger bonds with friends and family, many are doing their best to see the world in a brighter way.
Another popular 2025 resolution is to spend more time off-line, leaving time to be more socially active with friends, and find hobbies outside of the internet. It is no secret that the online world bleeds into the real world often, but with more and more young people seeing the benefits of disconnecting, it is less surprising of a resolution than many might believe.
With 2025 underway, it is important to remember that resolution progress isn’t linear. Some weeks might be harder than others and unforeseen circumstances may knock people off-kilter. It is not the end of the world to skip the gym one day and order take-out instead of cooking at home. Happy New Year!
